Charity department in St. Paul’s Seminary has its motto “Empower the Weak and Destitute”. At the beginning of the Academic year the seminary grants 2, 00,000 only for the charity purpose. Forty percentage from the amount is allotted for the education of the poor children from the villages where our seminarians go for their weekend ministry. The children who are in real need are indentified by our seminarians. Another forty percentage from the total amount is allotted for the education of the prisoners. Prisoners from Trichy, Madurai, Karur, Dindigual, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapatinam etc., are all kept in Central Prison at Trichy. Our brothers who involve in prison ministry, identify the deserving children of the prisoners and distribute to them the above mentioned amount alloted. The rest of the amount is distributed for the education of other children in and around Trichy who submit their application which are scrutinized by a team of seminarians. Those who are in need of medical help also approach the seminary and receive help to get the prescribed medicines. This really encourages the brothers to feel one with the needy and to empower the weak and the destitute.
